The event will bring together Ireland’s leading Disability & Inclusion professionals and educate attendees on how diversity can benefit organisations and what supports are available to engage with the talent pool of individuals with disabilities.

  1. Public Consultation by the Department of Business, Enterprise & Innovation on the European Commission’s proposed Goods Package

 
The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation (DBEI) is currently inviting submissions on a public consultation on the European Commission’s proposed ‘Goods Package’. The Goods Package features two legislative proposals to make it easier for companies, SMEs in particular, to sell their products across Europe and to strengthen controls to prevent unsafe products from being sold to consumers across Europe.

The deadline for submissions to this consultation is Friday, 30th of March 2018.
 

  1. InterTradeIreland Breakfast Briefings & Go2Tender

 
InterTradeIreland, in partnership with the Office of Government Procurement, Ibec, SFA, ISME, CIF and Chambers Ireland are delivering a series of breakfast workshops to educate and engage businesses on the island around public procurement, a market worth in the region of €12 billion per annum.
 
The next Breakfast Briefing is taking place on Wednesday, 11 April 2018 at Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone and is now available to register for by following this link.

  1. European Movement Ireland – Citizens’ Dialogue on the Future of Europe, featuring Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee TD in Navan, County Meath

 
The latest Citizen’s Dialogue in the Future of Europe series, will be taking place in County Meath, organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and European Movement Ireland, Ireland’s oldest European-affairs-focused organisation. The event will take place on Thursday, 19 April 2018 from 6.00pm at the Meath County Council office, Buvinda House, Dublin Road, Navan, County Meath.
 
In attendance will be Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee TD.

  1. India Chem 2018

 
The Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals of the Government of Indi is organizing the 10th edition of India Chem, in association with FICCI from the 4th to the 6th of October 2018 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSE Complex, Goregaon, Mumbai, India.
 
India Chem is the largest chemicals & petrochemicals industry event in India. The event will highlight investment possibilities in India’s chemical industry and promote the “Make in India” initiative
 
Over 20,000 business visitors from India and internationally are expected and over 300 Indian and international exhibitors are expected.
 
India Chem 2018 will showcase the latest products, machinery, equipment and developments in the chemical industry for generating business.

  1. LGiU Briefing Series on Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards Winners

 
The Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) has begun publishing a series of briefings looking at the winners of the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Governance Awards from 2017. The LGiU will showcase each of the best in practice projects that won at our Awards in 2017 over the coming weeks.

  1. EU’s ‘Consumer Law Ready’ website launched to support SMEs & Businesses

 
Last week the European Union launched their new ‘Consumer Law Ready’ (CLR) website, as part of the Consumer Law Ready project that EUROCHAMBRES is involved in.
 
The CLR website is a key online guide for businesses to access resources to help comply with EU and national consumer law. The website features guides, videos, quizzes and e-tests to help businesses familiarize themselves with various EU consumer legislation. The website and the online training materials are tailored for each county and are available in all EU languages.

Please also find attached a Consumer Law Ready “Launch Pack”, which contains website banners, postcards, examples of social media posts etc for you to make use of to promote the new CLR website.

  1. Public Consultation by the EU Startup Monitor for Startups Across Europe

 
The European Commission are currently gathering data from businesses across Europe to infirm startup and scale-up policy. To facilitate this, they have developed an anonymous online survey which takes 10 minutes to complete.   1. Peninsula: Pay Premiums for Sunday Staff

 
Peninsula has developed a new informative supplement outlining the key points to consider on complying with paying premiums for staff working on Sundays.
 
The supplement provides an overview of Section 14 of the Organisation of Working Time Act, which stipulates what compensation employees who work on a Sunday are entitled to.
 
The supplement also provides guidance on the best practice for providing for a Sunday premium as well as details on the Code of Practice on Sunday working for employers which must be adhered to.
