This award aims to recognise businesses that have taken organisational actions to reduce their impact on Climate Change through initiatives that address one or more of the six themes in the Council’s Climate Action Plan 2024-2029: Energy and Buildings, Transport, Flood Resilience, Circular Economy and Resource Management, Nature Based Solutions and Community Engagement.
Initiatives could include but is not limited to:
- Lowering of the business’ carbon footprint through renewable green technology;
- Emission reductions through an avoidance approach;
- Adaptation to the effects of climate change;
- Campaigns and training of employees to encourage greener business behaviours;
- Installation or restoration initiatives of which Climate Change improvement is the primary objective; or
- Some innovative Climate Action currently being promoted.
The initiatives may be physical in nature, or involve changes in business practices and methodologies, or may be activities within the local community or county in which a desirable Climate Action outcome has been achieved.
Applicants for the award must:
- Outline the initiatives/projects/programmes undertaken
- Describe the reasoning behind the initiatives/programmes/projects
- List the metrics (if any) used to assess success of the initiatives/programmes/projects
- Outline the impacts of the initiatives/programmes/projects on the business and involved parties/stakeholders
- Describe any future plan(s) the business has for taking positive Climate Actions
